Prep & Aftercare Instructions

Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your tan to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. Hydrated skin holds the tan better!

You cannot get a spray tan if you've had a sunburn that peeled, is at the point of peeling or has been over exposed to the sun (pink/ red skin). It's important to wait 4-6 weeks to allow the skin to heal fully to avoid a patchy tan.

Shave, wax & exfoliate your skin & shower the night before the tan. When possible try and exfoliate 2-3 times leading up to the day of the appointment with the last time being the night before to ensure smooth, even skin. Avoid scrubs with synthetic oils as they may leave an oily residue behind, preventing the spray tan solution from soaking into your skin properly.

Discontinue use of retinol and other active ingredients 3-7 days before your tan.

For the days leading up to your appointment and for a 7-10 day after, do not use Dove, Ivory, Olay, Dial, Irish Spring, Axe, Soft Soap, Johnson & Johnson baby soap, Bath & Body Works, Tree Hut, Victoria’s Secret products, or anything containing mineral oils. TIP: If it is strongly scented; skip it. If it is milky white; skip it. Opt for something more botanically based with a gel consistency. Think simple, boring and non or mildly fragranced.

In the cooler seasons it's important to prepare for the elements: jackets, umbrellas, shoes or boots and long socks to pull over the cuffs of pants.

The skin acts as a sponge and the absorption of water will prevent the tan from developing properly.

On the days leading up to the tan, moisturize your skin often right out of the shower as it locks in hydration. The more your skin is moisturized, the better. HOWEVER don’t use lotion the day of the appointment (with the exception of your hands if they are extremely dry). If your skin is dry, apply coconut or jojoba oil at least 4 hours before your appointment.

Remove all jewelry and contact lenses, and pull your hair back into a high ponytail before your arrival. E(http://arrival.jewelry/)xcessive jewelry or that requiring a screwdriver to unlock must be removed before arriving- it takes too long to remove these items and takes away from the time scheduled for the service. You cannot put jewelry immediately back on after the tan.

For best results, spray tanning should be the final beauty service on your schedule. • Waxing: Schedule at least 24–48 hours before your spray tan to ensure no residue interferes with the color. Waxing after a tan will remove the pigment. • Traditional manicures and pedicures: Ideally, these should be done a day or more before your tan. If you need to do nails afterward, stick to a polish change to avoid soaking or scrubbing, which can affect your tan. • Gel or acrylic nails: These can be done at any time, as long as your tan is fully developed. • Skin treatments (facials, peels, microdermabrasion, etc.): Schedule these at least a week in advance. Dermaplaning should be done no closer than 3 days before your tan.
